I see Selfishness...

Love, the word its self gives you butterflies, makes your face flush, and makes you smile. We as a whole human race enjoy love. When we are young we enjoy the love of a mother as she holds us and guides us through our vulnerable journey through infancy and young childhood. We enjoy the love of friends as we begin to wein off our mothers love, as we begin to grow and develop into our own being. Then we begin to yearn for the love that can only be achieved through intimate relationships ie: girlfriends and boyfriends. We are born with a desire to love and be loved in return, its a hole in our soul that we want to be filled, yet it is human nature to take things for granted.
We search all of our lives for this love and for this happiness, some of us get fortunate and find this special someone to fill the hole in our souls. We are so happy and we love and appreciate it... for a short time, but then we grow used to the feeling of love, and we grow used to hearing it daily. Why is that? Love will never wither and love will never fade, but then we see 50% of America getting divorces and saying they never loved each other. Was it even love to begin with? Or was it that we simply took it for granted and abused it?
I can not even tell you how many times that I have heard someone say that they love someone, and then within that same day they turn around and act so cold towards the one they claimed to love. What makes us think that this is OK? We foolishly throw around these three words, though we may mean it we take it for granted, as if this "love" is second nature to us. Didn't we spend our whole lives trying to find this love? Didn't we all go through pain and heart break to achieve this love? And yet we foolishly throw it around and simply love when we please. That's NOT how it should be, your love should never fade, never wither. Your love should be renewed everyday, it should be like the first moment you knew you were in love and you wanted to tell him/her and everyone you saw. You worked so hard for this precious gift, why not treasure it and hold it dear to you? We often wait until we have lost something to fully appreciate it, why wait until its gone? There is a quote that I find to be very true and to sum up my thoughts on the subject.
" Love is all that it's cracked up to be, it really is worth fighting for, being brave for, risking everything for...and yet the trouble is, if you don't risk anything, you risk even more." -Eria Jong
So... Love is worth it all, and once you find it you will truly be glad that you risked everything for it, but the thing is we don't. We take it as if it is a waiting game, a trap that is waiting to snap and hurt you. This, I believe is the reason we don't love fully and why we take it for granted, because somewhere in the deepest parts of our mind we are waiting for that trap to spring and to hurt us. Why? If you believe you love someone go for it, love them everyday with out any regrets, with out any hesitance, and don't treat it as second nature. Fight for it, be brave for it, and live it everyday of your life. The moments where we decide to jump over the edge, not knowing if there is ground below... are the moments when you know they are real. Love relentlessly... as if today were you last...don't wait until its gone.... have no regrets...The words are simple, the next step is to learn how to respect them and to never let them be...just words. I believe that when we learn how to do that, love will become pure and true again.

<3 I love you <3
